North Wales Crusaders are delighted to confirm former fan favourite, Jack Houghton, has returned to the club penning a one-year-deal for the 2025 season.

Fresh from a campaign in the Betfred Championship with Swinton Lions, Houghton is no stranger to Crusaders supporters having racked up over 100 appearances for the Colwyn Bay outfit in his previous spell with the club.

Having spent time in the youth systems at Widnes Vikings, Houghton found home with North Wales Crusaders making his debut for the club in 2016 before concluding his first-spell in North Wales with an appearance in the 2023 League One play-off final.

Moving to pastures new in 2024, Houghton stepped up to the Championship enjoying a successful season with Swinton Lions before moving back across the border to link up with Carl Forster’s Crusaders side once again for the 2025 season.

Speaking on his return to the club, Houghton said: “I’m absolutely made up to be back, Crusaders is a club which means a lot to me personally, and when I heard about the new project I wanted to be a part of it.

“League one looks as tough as ever this year, but we believe this group can compete at the top end of it.

“I can’t wait to catch up with all the Crusaders fans in the new year.”

Crusaders head coach Carl Forster added: “It’s great to bring Jack home.

“I absolutely love working with him, he’s the type of front rower we really missed last year, and he will have benefited from the year in the championship last year.

“He’s strong, direct and will complement our pack.”
