North Wales Crusaders are delighted to confirm the signing of 23-year-old Ollie Brookes, who arrives in Colwyn Bay from Betfred Championship outfit Widnes Vikings.
The winger, who has a keen eye for the tryline, has put pen to paper on a one-year-deal with Crusaders joining Carl Forster’s side for the 2025 season.
Brookes becomes the latest addition to arrive with experience playing in the Championship last season following Lloyd Roby, Sam Wilde and Jack Houghton in making the move to North Wales as the club looks to challenge in League One this season.
A product of the Viking’s youth setup, Brookes came through the academy and reserve teams at Widnes before making his professional debut in 2021 against Sheffield Eagles in the Betfred Championship.
On joining Crusaders, Brookes said: “I’m ready for a new challenge, and ready for some consistent game time and to develop my game.
“Looking ahead to this year, I’m really excited about the group we have and to be working under Foz.
“I think we can really push for promotion. The first few weeks of pre-season have been tough but enjoyable.”
Crusaders head coach Carl Forster added: “Ollie’s a real top signing for the club.
“He’s come from a top club and bought into our vision, his work rate and yardage carries will be essential to how we want to play and he knows his way across the try line.
“He’s a all rounder and I’m excited to see him in a Crusaders shirt.”
