North Wales Crusaders are delighted to confirm the signing of Olly Davies from Betfred Championship outfit Halifax Panthers for the 2025 season.
A product of the St’ Helens academy system, Davies shone for Championship side Widnes Vikings where he enjoyed a two-year spell making over 50 appearances in the second tier.
2024 saw Davies move to pastures new, remaining in the Championship with Halifax Panthers before being recruited on loan to North Wales Crusaders where he has quickly established himself as a favourite among the Crusaders faithful.
Now penning a permanent deal for the 2025 season, Davies is looking forward to remaining at the club: “I’m really pleased to announce I’ll be staying at the club permanently for 2025.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time on loan this season, and when the club came to me with an offer to stay, I was delighted.
“Carl has been fantastic, not only as a head coach, but as a team mate and a friend over the past couple of months and I’m glad I’ve got the opportunity for that continue.
“The staff and the players at the club have been fantastic ever since I arrived, and I really enjoy playing alongside them week in week out.
“There’s been nothing but positivity around the place since Jamie has taken over and listening to his plans for the future made my decision to stay even easier.
“The match day experience at Stadiwm CSM is fantastic, and the fans have been brilliant with me and my family ever since I arrived.
“They’ve travelled the country in recent weeks and been the loudest at each stadium we play at, they’re a credit to the club.
“We still have a big job to do this season and getting into the play-offs is the goal, we have a massive game this weekend at home against Hunslet, we need everyone down to help support us get a massive two points.”
Crusaders head coach Carl Forster added: “Having Olly remain with us on a permanent basis for the 2025 season is a real coup for the club, and a sign of things to come as we move forward.
“He’s a quality player who has slotted right in to the squad this year whilst on-loan, and I think given a full pre-season with us there’s even more to come from him.
“For the club, it’s fantastic to be bringing in a player from the Championship, that added experience helps the lads who we’re bringing through and also sets the expectations for us going forward into 2025.”
