North Wales Crusaders are delighted to announce the signing of Josh Eaves who puts pen to paper on a one-year-deal for the 2025 season.

The hooker joined Super League outfit St Helens at the age of 14, making a name for himself as part of the Saint’s unbeaten Academy Championship side of 2016 alongside the likes of Regan Grace and Aaron Smith.

Eaves progressed through the ranks to make his Saints first team debut in 2019 in a defeat to London Broncos before scoring his first senior try against Salford in 2020.

Establishing himself in the second tier, Eaves made a total of 26 appearances for Newcastle Thunder in 2022 before moving to Swinton Lions where he enjoyed a successful two years playing Championship rugby.

On signing for Crusaders, Eaves said: “As soon as I spoke to Foz about joining the club and the ambition of it, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it.

“Having played under Foz a few years ago, I know how he operates and I know that he will certainly push me and get the best out me.

“We have only been back in pre-season for three weeks now but training has already been hard but enjoyable.

“The squad is really gelling and working hard and you can tell that we as players know it’s an exciting time for the club.

“I can’t wait to pull on the North Wales Crusaders jersey in 2025, and I’m certainly looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team.”

Crusaders head coach Carl Forster added: “Evo is someone who I’ve worked with before and he’s a real top player and professional.

“He’s a smart, dynamic nine who can really play, but also does the tough stuff in the middle.

“He typifies what we are about as a person, he’s a real leader on and off the field and a good character.

“I’m excited to be working with him again.”
