North Wales Crusaders will look to maintain their 100% record this weekend when they travel to the Fibrus Community Stadium to take on Workington Town in Betfred League One.

The sides are set for an entertaining encounter with both clubs harbouring ambitions of the top-four finish this season, and in turn a shot at promotion to the Championship.

🗒️ Formbook:

Carl Forster’s Crusaders side go into Sunday’s game as the only remaining League One side with a 100% record. Having seen off newly relegated Dewsbury Rams 20-10, Crusaders made it two from two last week avenging an earlier season cup defeat at the hands of Goole Vikings beating them by 28 points to 6.

Workington are also unbeaten in the league having drawn their only game to date 16 a piece against a Midlands Hurricanes side tipped to be up there come the end of the year.

Town’s earlier season action came in the way of cup ties. Having seen off the Royal Navy 56-0 in the Challenge Cup, they were knocked out by Super League outfit Leigh Leopards.

Workington’s 1895 Cup campaign was brought to and end at the first time of asking as fellow League One side Dewsbury came away from Derwent Park with an 18-10 victory.

👥 One To Watch:

Workington have recruited well for the 2025 season as they look to gain promotion to the Championship.

Jamie Doran is a key playmaker for the Town side, and on his day can cause any opposition trouble. A product of the Wigan Warriors academy system, he’s spent his professional playing career in Cumbria, enjoying stints at both Whitehaven and Workington.

🗣️ Foz’s Thoughts:

Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s clash, North Wales Crusaders head coach Carl Forster said that he doesn’t want his side to get carried away with their early season form: “We’re still really early on, and we’ve won our first two games which is fantastic, but also nothing to go and get really carried away with at this point, we’ve got to stay grounded and take each week as it comes.

“I think Workington will be one of the toughest places to go this year, they’ve gone about their business quietly whilst all the talk has been about other teams, but make no mistake, their ambitions will be to get out of the division this year, and they’ve recruited a side capable of doing just that.”
