North Wales Crusaders travel to the south coast in search of a third win on the bounce as Carl Forster’s side look to solidify a place in the Betfred League One play-off places.
The fixture will mark the second visit to the Duchy this season for North Wales with Forster and his team having previously made the journey back in March where they secured a 40-16 victory.
However, it’s set to be a different challenge this time round, with Cornwall proving to be a force in League One this season.
👥 Squad News
With injuries beginning to mount up Carl Forster will be without Matt Reid and Owain Abel for the trip to the south coast, however, the player-coach himself could up in-line for a return to action having been named in the 19-man-squad to travel.
Forster also welcomes Liam Bent from Betfred Championship outfit Widnes Vikings who arrives on dual-registration terms.
🏟️ Opposition
Despite sitting second from bottom in the league table, Cornwall are a far greater side than their league position would suggest.
Sunday’s hosts have proved to be a tough test for teams visiting them this season, and that proved to be true last weekend as they pushed joint league leaders Keighley Cougars, keeping them in a battle for the majority of the game.
Wins against Midlands Hurricanes and Newcastle Thunder have provided Cornwall with their four points, however, come the end of the season there’s no doubt that tally will be much higher.
🗣️ What The Coach Says
Recognising the importance of gaining momentum as we approach the business end of the season, North Wales Crusaders head coach Carl Forster spoke to the media earlier in the week.
“I think underestimating Cornwall based on their league position is definitely a danger, he said.
“You only have to look at last weekend to see Keighley going down there joint top of the league and really being pushed to realise that this won’t be an easy encounter.
“We carry the confidence that on our day we have the ability to beat anyone in this league, but mark my words if we turn up with the wrong attitude on Sunday then Cornwall will come away with the win – they’re a very good side.”
