Local lad Lloyd Evans is set to be in-line to make his North Wales Crusaders debut this Sunday as his side take on Cornwall RLFC at Eirias Park in a fixture with free admission and live entertainment on offer.

The 27-year-old former RGC Academy product has been training with North Wales Crusaders for the last few months.

On joining the club, Evans has said: “It’s been good, the transition has been pretty smooth coming over to league from union, obviously there is a few little adjustments I have to get used too.

“The lads here have been welcoming, I’m really enjoying learning rugby league.”

Evans, who hails from Llandudno where has scored over 100 tries for Llandudno Rugby Union Club, added: “I’ve not had much experience in playing league, I’ve played twice for Wales Students, it’s a faster game and it’s different on a fitness scale.

“I’ve played union for 20 years or so and I enjoyed playing it, but I’m looking forward to a new challenge.

“I’m excited for a new opportunity given to me by North Wales Crusaders.

“Something I’ve already really enjoyed has been representing my country when I played for Wales Students, and so when I was approached by North Wales Crusaders I thought, ‘why not give it a go?’, I just wanted a new challenge.

“I loved playing for Llandudno RFC first team and I’m very grateful for what they’ve done for me and I love that club; but for me personally it was time for a new challenge.”

On the possibility of making his debut this weekend, Evans commented: “I’ve been itching to play really for the past few months, and I’m just really excited to get on the pitch.

“I know Carl hasn’t picked me due to my lack of experience, so I’ll just grateful for the opportunity should I get selected.

“Carl has been great, he’s welcomed me into the squad nice and early and I’ve really enjoyed the training sessions.

“I’ve heard the North Wales Crusaders fans are loud and vocal and I’m looking forward to show them what I can do.”
