I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of our players, supporters, staff and sponsors a Merry Christmas from all of us at the club.
As we all come together to celebrate, I think it also marks a time for us to come together as a club ahead of the new season and get ready to back the boys in what promises to be a thrilling year.
In less than a months time the lads will step onto the field in Widnes for our first pre-season friendly followed by a home clash against London Broncos who are fresh out of a season in Super League.
Both of those games shall be really good tests for us and give us an opportunity to see where we’re at ahead of the new season commencing a week later in way of a trip to Cornwall in the Challenge Cup.
We’ve recruited a very strong side for 2025, and the commitment and skill which I’ve seen in pre-season training to date has me excited about what this group can achieve.
Whilst I can only control what happens on the field, I feel it important to comment on the recent news of the change of ownership.
For us as a playing group it’s business as usual and the transition has been seamless.
In any organisation, when change happens there’s always going to be questions, however, speaking from my experience with the new owners, the club is headed in a good direction and there are plenty of exciting plans already in motion.
We all want to see the club go from strength to strength, and we all want to see us achieve promotion back to the Championship in the near future, in order for that to happen we need to grow across all areas of the club, attract new supporters and continue to deliver a family friendly environment.
We’ll embrace those changes and continue to work hard to achieve the goals we are setting ourselves for this season.
Last but not least, I’d like to congratulate the club’s community foundation, women’s team and wheelchair sides on another fantastic year.
I look forward to seeing you all at our friendly fixtures next month and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy new year.
