EggChaser are pleased to confirm plans to launch North Wales Crusaders representative men’s and women’s rugby 7’s sides as the group looks to expand the club’s brand on a global scale and open new development and commercial opportunities.

Alongside pushing forward with the first-team’s Betfred League One ambitions this season, the owners are ambitious to broaden North Wales Crusaders’ appeal as an elite rugby club and brand.

Making the announcement, EggChaser and North Wales Crusaders CEO, Arun Watkins, said: “We are delighted to announce that from this summer, the Crusaders will field a rugby 7’s team which will be competing across the men’s and women’s elite circuits.

“The side will aim to offer a player pathway, and represent some of the brightest talent across Wales & the North West of England.

“Traditionally international 7’s players come from both a league and union background, obviously we are super keen to embrace league players as part of this journey.

“The sides will be competing in the UK’s top 7’s tournaments, with the Men’s squad entered into the Welsh 7s series, with the final domestic event for the squads at our home tournament of the North Wales 7’s.

“The side will also be looking to participate in an international tournament this year.

“Players representing the squad, will be treated as elite athletes having access to professional training facilities, kit, travel opportunities and the opportunity to pathway within the EggChaser family.

The Lionesses, which is the EggChaser founded elite ladies side, recently won the international invitation tournament at the Dubai 7’s, beating Australia A and South Africa on the way to the success.

“Similarly, the men’s side (Lions) have won silverware at the likes of Scandianivan 7’s (Copenghagen), Kenya’s Safari 7’s and the Amsterdam 7’s this year where the side won the elite men’s cup.

“A formal player application & trial process will begin later this year.”
