Carl Forster’s North Wales Crusaders shall look to return to winning ways this weekend when they travel to face Rochdale Hornets at the Crown Oil Arena.
Coming off the back of just their second league defeat this season, North Wales will be looking to get their Betfred League One title challenge back on track in Greater Manchester, however, a solid Rochdale side who are finding their own form stand in their way.
Formbook:
The Hornets currently sit sixth in the League One table, just a point behind fourth placed Dewsbury Rams with four games remaining.
Whilst Gary Thornton’s side look to stage a late race for the play-offs, they know that a home victory on Sunday could prove to be crucial in their efforts to overtake their rivals.
Rochdale’s form has been inconsistent during spells this season, however, the Hornets have recently found their stride with comprehensive victories over Newcastle (60-0) and Goole (50-0) before making it three on the bounce last week with a 36-32 victory over Whitehaven.
They’ll now be looking to make it four from four come Sunday and edge them closer to the top four.
Foz’s Thoughts:
Looking ahead to the game this week, Forster said: “We’ve got back in and dusted ourselves off, we’ve had some honest conversations around the Swinton defeat, there were some errors in there but as cliche as it sounds, we win and lose as a team, and we’ll bounce back.
“It felt a bit like the end of the world at full-time on Sunday, but when you take the emotions away, it’s only our second league defeat of the season, we’ve got four games left and need two wins to seal the title so the focus now is on what we have to do.
“That starts this weekend against Rochdale, who I think are a lot stronger than their league position suggests.
“If you look at the points for and against then it probably tells you a better story of what they’re about and how difficult they can be to break down.
“They’ve gone to Goole just two weeks ago and put 50 on them, so we can’t think that just turning up Sunday will be enough – far from it.”
