North Wales Crusaders are delighted to confirm a new one-year-deal for full-back Owain Abel, seeing him remain at the club until the end of the 2026 season.
Abel arrived in North Wales in 2023, playing a vital role in the club’s run to the Betfred League One play-off final, clinching a vital drop-goal in the semi-final away to Hunslet.
Owain, who also qualifies for the Wales national team, began the 2024 season strongly before suffering an ACL injury which saw him sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 campaign as well as the 2025 season.
Having undergone surgery whilst under contract with the club this year and beginning his recovery to be ready for pre-season, Abel has now put pen to paper on a new one-year-deal.
Speaking about Owain’s new deal, Crusaders head coach Carl Forster said: “It’s great to keep Owain at the club after such a tough season for him.
“He’s been working really hard behind the scenes to get his rehab done and he’s looking really well.
“He will be like a new signing to the team come next season and we all know how good he is.
“We want to put our faith in Owain, and I think this new deal shows that.”
