With less than a month togo until our first pre-season outing of the season, and training well and truly underway we are delighted to welcome a couple of new faces to the management team as Dean Muir continues his preparation for the 2026 Betfred Championship season.
Firstly we’re thrilled to welcome John Williams – John has a strong CV working within the NCL and will make the step up to the professional level this season working as an Assistant Coach.
John’s thoughts upon joining were “I’m excited for the new challenge and looking forward to working with Dean, Sean, Jake, and the lads in the coming season. From the sessions we’ve had so far, they’ve all been very welcoming and a great bunch to work with.”
Dean added “I’m looking forward to working with John again. His knowledge application and attention to detail make him the perfect for us.
It’s a full transition in staff and training methods and having John here is the perfect fit to take us into the championship”
As we step up a level in terms of competition, the conditioning, resilience and fitness of our players must step up and such we’re delighted to welcome Sean Long to the squad as Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach
Upon joining the Cru, Sean added “I’m genuinely excited to be working with Dean and the entire Crusaders squad. We’ve hit the ground running with a rigorous Strength and Conditioning schedule, and the players’ attitude has been fantastic. I’m looking forward to bringing my diverse coaching background to bear and contributing to the club’s ambitions in 2026 and beyond.”
Dean added “His enthusiasm is infectious and has made training a great place to be.
His knowledge and skills are a great asset and I am enjoying working with Longy.
It was the obvious Choice to bring him in after the first conversation and he is great for culture and progression.”
Both have been working with the squad for the past few weeks, and I’m sure the Crusaders faithful will give them a massive welcome upon our return to action on the 21st December
